Every time I watch Republican debates and listen to these assholes go on and on about the evils of socialism is and the ways in which “Obamacare” is a threat to the country, it makes me so angry and sad that it is possible for an electorate to be so incredibly misinformed.
No one dies waiting for chemo. If you need chemo, you get it. Someone very close to me was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2009. They operated THE NEXT day. EVERY chemo treatment, EVERY radiation session, EVERY surgery thereafter - immediate and free. He passed away a year ago today, and his wife and family were not left with a single medical bill after a 16-month cancer battle.
I have lived in Canada my whole life; the idea that a person from the country that claims to be the beacon of hope and freedom could be bankrupted by medical costs is utterly incomprehensible.
Needless to say, tonight’s wonderful tweets from one of my favourite writers, Kelly Oxford, made me very happy:
